Knowing the Numbers vs Controlling Them

Spreading financial knowledge throughout an organization is commendable, but financial knowledge alone doesn’t guarantee results. Its process understanding that drives results.

An example; say total scrap costs are high and the entire team knows it. But if they don’t know why and they don’t have the wherewithal to problem solve the why, then knowing the financials doesn’t help. Process understanding and problem solving drives results. I’ve seen this first hand; where the emphasis was financial understanding, but the financials were a disappointment to all, and no one knew what to do about it…

If you don’t understand your process, you can’t control your results. Lean Business Intelligence is about deep process understanding - so you get the results you expect.
